New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- Opposing the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, and the in Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, the Congress on Sunday said that the Bills are a move to end the Minimum Support Price system in the country and pave way for corporate houses to take over farmlands.

Initiating a discussion on the two Bills in the Rajya Sabha, Pratap Singh Bajwa of the Congress said, ''the Bills are an assault on the soul of farmers. They are ill conceived and ill timed. Farmers are not illiterate. They understand that this is a way to do away with MSP. Once this is passed, corporate houses will take over farmlands.
