Guwahati, Sept. 21 -- A pall of gloom has descended on Assam following the tragic demise of iconic singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg. The "heartthrob and voice of millions," Zubeen, drowned on September 19 while swimming at Lazarus Island, Singapore. He was 52.
Fans have gathered outside the singer's residence in Guwahati's Kahilipara area since last night, singing and praying for the deceased icon as they await his mortal remains. The Assam government has deployed a large number of security personnel to control the situation at the residence and at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, where the body will be kept for public tribute.
