Srinagar, April 2 -- A day after the Army said a terrorist was killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district, a local family has contested the claim, alleging that the deceased had no links to militancy.
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday demanded a transparent and time-bound probe, while PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti alleged that the encounter was being termed "fake", intensifying calls for an impartial investigation.

However, a family from Chountwaliwar in Ganderbal has identified the deceased as 28-year-old Rashid Ahmad Mughal.
