Shimla, March 29 -- A shocking case of impersonation has surfaced in 's Kullu district, where a man posed as a police officer to intimidate people and extort money.
The accused has been arrested following swift police action.
Superintendent of Police Kullu Madan Lal said that accused has been identified as Mohit Sharma (34), a resident of Dhalpur in Kullu. He allegedly targeted outsiders, threatening them with legal action while pretending to be a police official and extracting cash.
The incident came to light on March 26, when a Nepali labourer was stopped by the accused and threatened with police action. Under fear, the victim was forced to pay around Rs 5,000. Showing courage, the labourer later lodged a complaint with the police.
