New Delhi, Jan. 30 -- After years of being on the run from trial, a man impersonating an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer and declared a proclaimed offender by a Delhi court was arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police, an officer said on Friday.

According to the police, the accused, Vimal Bhat, alias Sonu, from Ghaziabad's Raj Nagar Extension, was apprehended on Thursday from the Patparganj Industrial Area in East Delhi.

"He was declared a proclaimed offender on August 4, 2025, in connection with an FIR registered at Dwarka South police station," said Vikram Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch).
