Mumbai, March 25 -- Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday introduced the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Maharashtra Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Legislative Assembly, proposing to incorporate key provisions of the previously passed 'Shakti Act' into the new criminal law framework.

The Maharashtra Assembly later cleared the Bill, bringing in amendments related to sexual harassment of women through digital means and protection of the identity of acid attack victims, as originally envisaged in the SHAKTI Criminal Laws (Maharashtra Amendment) Bill, 2020.
