Kolkata, Dec. 27 -- With West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit the Gangasagar on January 5, the state government and the South 24 Parganas district administration are making elaborate arrangements to manage the massive influx of pilgrims at the Gangasagar Mela earlier next year.
The chief minister who has earlier warned the state administration to stay away from any kind of VIP culture will reach Gangasagar on January 5 where she will conduct an administrative review with district officials to assess preparedness, crowd management, and safety measures.
Banerjee is also expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several development projects in the region.
