Guwahati, Sept. 9 -- The air quality in Guwahati has been consistently worsening, particularly after the monsoon, said Aarti Khosla, Director of Climate Trends, a New Delhi-based organisation.

The alarming situation regarding air quality in Guwahati and Assam was revealed today during a day-long stakeholders' discussion organised by the Assam Science Technology and Encouragement Council (ASTEC) and the Assam Pollution Control Board in association with Climate Trends.

Khosla further revealed that air pollution concentrations have been increasing over the last 20 years in Western Assam districts, mainly due to industrial corridors, freight corridors, and transport corridors, where industrial activities and diesel use have risen.
