Aizawl, Sept. 5 -- Experts have expressed concerns over the potential impact of reduced GST rates on the state's exchequer, noting that while the move may benefit residents of Mizoram, the state government needs to take proactive measures to prevent a decline in tax revenue.

Mizoram University Economics Professor Dr. James LT Thanga said that with the implementation of GST Reform 2.0, the state government would face considerable losses. He estimated the potential loss in GST revenue at Rs 90-200 crore, warning that Mizoram's current fiscal condition is not strong enough to absorb such a financial setback.
