Chennai, Jan. 21 -- In a sudden development ahead of the ensuing elections to the TamilNadu Assembly, expelled AIADMK leader R Vaithilingam, on Wednesday quit the OPS campand joined the ruling DMK afer resigning his MLA post.

A former AIADMK Minister for two terms, Mr Vaithilingam, a staunch loyalist of formerCM O Panneerselvam right from the days he started heading the rival faction, deserted theOPS camp, met Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu and resigned his MLA post.
