Nagpur, Oct. 18 -- In a major crackdown on illegal liquor trade, the State Excise Department has seized a total of 394 litres of foreign liquor worth Rs 41.18 lakh during a series of enforcement operations conducted across Nagpur district, officials confirmed on Friday.
Acting on intelligence inputs, multiple raids were carried out by excise teams targeting illegal transportation and sale of foreign liquor allegedly smuggled into Maharashtra from neighboring states such as Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the seizures.
The first major operation took place on October 7, resulting in the seizure of 230 litres of foreign liquor and a vehicle, together collectively worth Rs 16.13 lakh.
