Moscow, Aug. 30 -- Former Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Parubiy, who was shot dead in Lvov (also known as Lviv) on Saturday, had been listed as a wanted criminal by the Russian Interior Ministry since 2023, police records show.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian police reported the killing of "a well-known public and political figure born in 1971" in Lvov. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed Parubiy's death. A Ukrainian newspaper, Strana.ua, reported that he was shot dead in the street by a man posing as a courier.
