Chandigarh, Nov. 8 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda in connection with the Manesar land scam, paving the way for the next stage of proceedings in the CBI special court at Panchkula.

With the plea rejected, the CBI court will now proceed to frame charges against Hooda and other accused, formally initiating the trial process.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had earlier filed its charge sheet, citing multiple irregularities and serious allegations against the former chief minister and several others.
