Shimla, Dec. 1 -- Expressing grave concern over the increasing number of drug overdose deaths in Himachal Pradesh, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur urged the state government to take immediate and stringent measures to curb the menace.
He said that frequent reportage in the media about youths dying due to overdose of chitta and other narcotics reflects a deeply disturbing trend.
Referring to the recent death of a 15-year-old boy in Rohru, Thakur said it was heartbreaking to see young children losing their lives at such regular intervals while the government "fails to control a menace that is eating into the vitals of society."He remarked that drug abuse was spreading "like an epidemic" across the state, yet th...
