New Delhi, Sept. 26 -- Just months after stepping down as Head Coach of the Black Caps, Gary Stead has returned to New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in a new capacity.

The 53-year-old has been appointed to the high performance team, where he will focus on supporting player and coach development, along with high performance programmes.

Stead concluded his successful seven-year reign as Head Coach of the New Zealand men's side in June. He was replaced by South African Rob Walter, whose contract runs through to the end of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in late 2028.
