Chennai, Aug. 6 -- Former AIADMK MLA Karthik V R Thondaimaan, who hailed from the Pudukottai Royal family, today quit the party and joined the ruling DMK ahead of the Assembly elections due in eight months time.

Thondaman, who is the Pudukottai functionary of the AIADMK, joined the DMK in the presence of Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin at the party headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam' here.

Senior Ministers and party leaders were present on the occasion.

He is the second leader to quit the AIADMK and join the DMK in recent times after Party senior and former MP Anwar Rajaah, also the Minority Wing leader, quit the party.
