Chennai, May 12 -- Former AIADMK Minister JCD Prabhakar and Ravishankar, both legislators of the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, were on Tuesday elected unopposed as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively of the newly constituted 17th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
Both candidates filed their nominations for the respective posts in the presence of Vijay and his Cabinet colleagues before Legislative Assembly Secretary K. Srinivasan on Monday.
As theirs were the only nominations filed, both were declared elected unopposed and announced by Pro-tem Speaker M. V. Karuppiah in the House on Tuesday, after which they were escorted to their seats and chambers by members of both the ruling and ...
