New Delhi, April 20 -- Former Afghanistan fast bowler Shapoor Zadran is battling for his life in New Delhi hospital after being diagnosed with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), rare and life-threatening condition that causes severe immune system dysfunction.
According to ESPNCricinfo, the 38-year-old, who will turn 39 in July, is currently in the intensive care unit with an advanced stage of the disease. HLH, more commonly seen in children but also affecting vulnerable adults, leads to hyperinflammation triggered by an overactive immune system, damaging vital organs including the bone marrow, liver, spleen and lymph nodes.
