New Delhi/Hyderabad, Jan. 8 -- Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday said the State was promoting electric vehicles (EVs) in a phased manner, resulting in a sharp rise in their adoption.

Addressing the annual meeting of Transport Ministers from States and union Territories here, chaired by union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Prabhakar said Telangana had prioritised EVs under its policy framework.

He noted that the number of electric vehicles in the State rose from 4,376 at the time of the policy's launch to 2,58,325 by 2025.
