Shimla, Dec. 13 -- The process of removing illegal encroachments from forest land has once again gathered momentum in Himachal Pradesh, with the Revenue Department accelerating demarcation and handing over encroached land to the Forest Department in the Rohru Forest Division.

Officials confirmed that more than 50 bighas of forest land have already been retrieved and formally transferred to the Forest Department.

According to official records, nearly 500 hectares (around 6,000 bighas) of land in the Rohru Forest Division remains under encroachment. As many as 2,045 encroachment cases have been registered with the Forest Divisional Officer (FDO), out of which eviction orders have been issued in 2,023 cases by the FDO's court.
