Moscow, Aug. 27 -- The European union hopes to resolve the deadlock over Ukraine's accession to the bloc in the coming months through pressure on Hungary, Politico reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed diplomats.
The deadlock over Ukraine's admission to the EU could be overcome given the pressure from US President Donald Trump on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who opposes Ukraine's EU membership, two diplomats told Politico.
In May, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Brussels was planning to allocate hundreds of billions of euros to Ukraine over the next seven years - even before it formally joins the bloc, which Hungary opposes.
