Tallinn, April 23 -- The European union has adopted its 20th package of sanctions against Russia, introducing sweeping measures that could enable a full ban on maritime transportation of Russian oil and petroleum products, Estonia's Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier, European Council President Antonio Costa confirmed the adoption of the new sanctions package.

In a statement on Thursday, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said the measures empower the Council of the European union to impose a complete ban on maritime transport services linked to Russian crude oil and petroleum products.

The package also adds 46 more vessels linked to Russia's so-called shadow fleet to the sanctions list, restricts Moscow's ability to acquire additional tankers, a...
