Washington, May 31 -- The European Union expects the United States to impose stronger sanctions against Russia proposed by Senator Lindsey Graham, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Saturday.

"We need to put more pressure on Russia so that they would also want peace, and there, I mean in America, there is the proposal prepared by senators Graham ant others which is also very strong sanctions on Russia, but of course we are waiting for the US reaction really to put more pressure on Russia," Kallas said at the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue.

Kallas confirmed that the EU was working on a new round of sanctions against Russia.
