Moscow, May 30 -- Estonia has stopped on-going negotiations with Russia over the controversial replacement of navigating buoys on the Narva River, opting instead to do without installing them this summer and increase patrols, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
In May 2024, the Estonian Interior Ministry's Police and Border Guard Department accused Russian border guards of removing 25 buoys on the Narva River. The placement of the buoys fluctuates every year and is negotiated by the parties in the spring. Last year, Estonia said Russia rejected the placement of nearly a half of the 250 buoys.
