Las Vegas, July 19 -- Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi's dazzling run at the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam in Las Vegas came to a crashing halt today IST as he was outplayed 0-2 by veteran GM Levon Aronian in the semifinals.

Despite entering the knockout phase as one of the tournament's standout performers, Arjun could not keep pace with Aronian's composed and clinical play.

The loss denied Arjun a shot at the $200,000 top prize and a place in the Final. It was also his second straight loss in a knockout match without managing a win, having earlier survived a nail-biting tiebreaker against GM Wesley So.
