Srinagar, Oct. 25 -- The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir today arrested a revenue officer wanted in connection with a corruption and fraud case registered earlier this year.
The accused, Ashiq Ali, a resident of Panner Jagir and presently residing at Hawal, Srinagar, had served as Patwari, Balhama Srinagar. He had been absconding for the past three months, the EOW said in a statement.
According to officials, Ashiq Ali was wanted in connection with FIR No. 14/2025, registered under Sections 167, 420, and 120-B of the RPC, read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case pertains to offences involving corruption, cheating, false mutations, and wrongful insertions in revenue records.
