Buenos Aires, Oct. 13 -- Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been ruled out of the upcoming international friendly against Puerto Rico due to inflammation in his right knee, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said.

The Chelsea midfielder sustained the injury during Argentina's 1-0 win over Venezuela in Miami on Friday.

Despite completing the match, Fernandez later revealed that he had been playing through discomfort.

"Playing through injuries is one of the demands of wearing this shirt," the player told the reporters after the match.
