Chitrakoot, Oct. 22 -- A major crackdown has been launched in Chitrakoot district after a sting operation exposed police officials allegedly extorting money from truck drivers under the guise of ''fees" for allowing overloaded trucks to pass through. The sting, conducted by a media agency, has sent shockwaves through the local police department.
Following the viral release of the sting operation video, the Chitrakoot Superintendent of Police (SP), Arun Kumar Singh, took swift action. He suspended Sub-Inspector Imran Khan from Rajapur police station, and constables Ranveer Singh (Bharatkoop), Ajay Mishra (Rajapur), and Shubham Dwivedi (Pahadi) for their involvement in the illegal practice.
