Guwahati, Oct. 29 -- England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt won the toss and elected to bowl first against South Africa in the Women's World Cup semifinal at the Barsapara Stadium, but her decision was quickly tested as Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits gave the Proteas a commanding start.

By the 17th over, South Africa were 89 for no loss, with Wolvaardt unbeaten on 55 and Brits steady on 29.

The pair's unbroken 89-run partnership not only blunted England's new-ball attack but also marked Wolvaardt's entry into the elite 5000-run club in women's ODIs - making her the first South African and only the sixth player overall to achieve the feat.
