London, Aug. 3 -- England surged ahead in their second innings on Day 4 of the ongoing Test at The Oval, reaching 317 for 4 at tea, with Harry Brook's electrifying 111 off 98 balls and Joe Root's composed 98 leading the charge. The 161-run fourth-wicket partnership tilted the game heavily in favour of the hosts despite early inroads by India.
