Chennai, July 13 -- Terming as distressing the arrest of seven Tamil Nadu fishermen
by the Sri Lankan Navy, Chief Minister M K Stalin today urged External Affairs Minister
(EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar to engage all diplomatic channels to secure their release and
their fishing vessels apprehended by the Sri Lankan authorities
In a Demi-official letter to EAM, he drew his attention to yet another distressing incident
of apprehension of seven Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.
He said in the early hours of today, seven fishermen, along with their mechanised fishing
boat were taken into custody.
