Patna, June 18 -- With increasing demand of electricity in Bihar, the energy consumption has increased 12 times in last 20 years in the state, official sources said today.

The sources associated with the Energy department said here that in 2005, 700 MW of electricity was consumed which increased to 9428 MW by June 2025. In 2012, 1 thousand 751 MW and in 2014, 2 thousand 831 MW of electricity consumption was recorded.

In view of rising electricity demands, it has been decided to use the renewable sources of power, informed the sources.

According to the sources, per capita energy consumption in the state has increased by almost 5 times in the last 20 years.
