Mumbai, March 31 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis on Monday instructed officials to promote mulberry cultivation and sericulture among farmers of Vidarbha to make them self-reliant.
In view of continuous crop failure, unpredictable nature, climate change, limited soil fertility, it becomes risky to depend on traditional crops.
In such a situation, mulberry cultivation on less water is emerging as a more profitable and sustainable
agriculture that provides financial support to farmers, he said.
The state government is implementing various schemes in collaboration with the central government to enrich the farmers of Vidarbha through sericulture.
