Hyderabad, June 23 -- Employment guarantee works are progressing rapidly across Telangana, with the state achieving 70 per cent of its annual target within the first two months.

Of the 6.5 crore workdays allocated by the Centre under the employment guarantee scheme, 4.53 crore workdays have already been completed.

Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka revealed that over 28.48 lakh labourers from 18.9 lakh families have been engaged this year, with 1,127 families completing the maximum 100 workdays.

On average, each family has worked 24 days, earning Rs. 250.75 per day, though efforts are underway to raise the daily wage to Rs. 307.
