Bengaluru, Feb. 28 -- The Karnataka Labour Department, in its interim report, has stated that Infosys did not breach any labour laws when it recently terminated several trainees.
The department clarified that these individuals were classified as trainees rather than employees, absolving the company of any legal requirement to retain them.
The investigation, led by Additional Labour Commissioner (Industrial Relations) G Manjunath, was initiated under the directive of Karnataka Labour Minister Santhosh Lad. Officials visited Infosys' Mysuru and Bengaluru campuses to scrutinise documents related to the hiring and assessment process.
