Paris, May 26 -- Emma Raducanu overcame illness and a towering Chinese opponent to secure a gritty win in the first round of the French Open, setting up a high-profile clash with defending champion Iga Swiatek.
The British No.2, who suffered a back spasm last week, was forced to take a medical timeout during the opening set, receiving blood pressure checks and ice treatment on court.
Raducanu appeared to be struggling as she fell 1-5 behind in the second set against world No.43 Wang Xinyu, daughter of a former basketball star.
