Guwahati, Oct. 30 -- In keeping with the demand of the elephant owners, the Assam government has decided to increase the elephant safari rates with immediate effect.

A notification issued by the government today said that while the elephant safari rates for Indian tourists have increased to Rs 1,200 per seat, it will be Rs 2000 for the foreign tourists.

Park Director Sonali Ghosh said that the elephant safari fee structure has been periodically revised to reflect maintenance costs and conservation needs.

"The 2015 notification established elephant safari rates at Rs 750 for Indian nationals and Rs 1,250 for foreign visitors per seat," she said, adding that these enhanced rates, implemented after a ten-year gap, acknowledge the financial ...
