Palakkad, Feb. 7 -- An elephant ran amok and trampled a mahout to death and two others injured during a mosque festival at Koottanad in Kerala.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Kunhumon (50) of Changanassery in Kottayam district.
The incident took place around 2300 hours on Thursday night. The elephant named Vallankulangara Narayanan kutty attacked Kunhumon at Thaneercode road, when it was returning from the Gajasangamam of 47 elephants parade, organized for Koottanad nercha (mosque festival).
Mahout Kunhumon died on the spot. Three persons, who were on the top of the elephant, jumped from the rogue elephant and two of them suffered minor injuries and have been hospitalised at Kunnamkulam.
