Mumbai, Oct. 5 -- Even as Maharashtra continues to recover from floods that devastated several regions and affected farmers before Dasara, Mahavitaran has delivered a Diwali-eve shock by announcing an electricity tariff hike. The increase, imposed through a Fuel Adjustment Fee (FAF), will raise electricity bills for October by 35 to 95 paise per unit for domestic consumers and will also impact commercial and industrial users.

According to Mahavitaran's latest circular, the fuel adjustment fee is being levied on electricity consumption for September and will remain applicable until further orders.
