Lucknow, Oct. 4 -- Power demand in Uttar Pradesh has surged to levels similar to or even higher than in May and June, official sources said today.
Officials noted that the state is grappling with unusually high temperatures as October begins, pushing electricity demand close to peak summer levels.
"Power demand in the state has remained around 30,000 MW, often surpassing the peaks seen in May and June. Data from the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) shows that the peak power demand has consistently stayed above 29,000 MW since September 22, reaching 30,255 MW on September 25," they said.
Sources added that demand reached 30,004 MW at 9:30 pm on September 29, compared to 29,290 MW at 8:50 am on September 30.
