Agartala, March 10 -- The elected councillors of the ruling BJP locked the office of the Chairperson of the Melaghar Municipal Council in Tripura's Sepahijala district on Monday, raising allegations of corruption.

The councillors alleged severe mismanagement and widespread corruption within the civic body, prompting their protest.

Interestingly, the protest did not originate from the opposition, but rather from members of the Chairperson's own party, specifically, four women councillors of the municipal council.

They told the media that there were massive irregularities and financial misconduct by the Chairperson, Anamika Ghosh, who disregarded the opinions of other councillors and acted unilaterally.
