Kozikhode, Dec. 26 -- : An elderly woman was found dead in the Panavalli forest area at Thirunelli in Kerala's Wayanad district. It is believed that she was attacked by a wild elephant. The deceased has been identified as Chandni(65) of Appapara Unnati in ThirunelliForest department officials found her body among the bushes near the Panavally-Appapara road after noticing fresh elephant footprints and the presence of a herd in the area. It is suspected that Chandini, who was reportedly mentally unstable, may have wandered into the forest area the previous night and encountered the elephant.
