Hyderabad, Dec. 7 -- A 75-year-old resident of Habsiguda in Hyderabad lost Rs 1,09,610 in a cyber fraud after he responded to a fake D-Mart grocery offer circulating on Facebook, police said on Sunday.
A police release stated that the victim had come across an advertisement claiming groceries worth Rs 298 were available under a special offer. After he entered his contact details, he received a call on November 24 at around 1630 hours from an unidentified person who claimed the order had been confirmed. The caller then sent an APK file via WhatsApp and instructed him to install it to proceed with the payment.
