Mumbai, Dec. 17 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde strongly criticised former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan here on Wednesday for his remarks suggesting that India suffered defeat in a war, questioning whether such statements imply a desire for Pakistan's victory.

Shinde alleged that speaking in this manner amounts to siding with Pakistan and questioned the patriotism of those making such claims, calling it "anti-national." He said he condemns such statements unequivocally.
