Latur, Sept. 1 -- The police administration in Latur district has initiated stringent measures to combat Matka gambling activities in the region.
Acting upon the orders of Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe and following the decision of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sushant Shinde, eight individuals from Udgir taluka have been formally deported from the district, an official said today.
Those deported include Ahmed Suraj Shaikh and Sohail Muammil Shaikh, both ordered to remain outside the district for three months.
The others facing deportation for two months comprise Kranti Kumar Jondhale, Vikram Shinde, Firoz Sheikh, Ajay Kajjewad, Alim Dange and Tukaram Pund.
