Lucknow, Aug. 1 -- In three separate road accidents in Uttar Pradesh, eight people lost their lives and six others were seriously injured in the last 24 hours. Police said in the Sarurpur area of Meerut district on Friday morning, three people died and five others were injured when a speeding vehicle collided with the metal gauge installed on the Hindon river bridge located on the Meerut-Baraut road. The vehicle was carrying eight people. Three of the occupants died on the spot while the remaining sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
