Bhubaneswar, Nov. 6 -- Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced that the state government is making concerted efforts to secure UNESCO World Heritage Site status for the historic Bali Jatra of Cuttack, a living testament to the courage, maritime prowess, and trading spirit of the Odia people.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Bali Jatra on the banks of the Mahanadi River yesterday, Majhi said the annual fair, regarded as eastern India's largest cultural and trade festival, has been organized for centuries and continues to embody Odisha's rich maritime legacy.
