Chandigarh, Feb. 22 -- Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday announced that the effiges of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be burnt across the country on Friday, in protest against the death of 21-year-old farmer Shubkaran Singh, allegedly fatally shot by the police at Khanuri border.

SKM leaders said a black day will be observed across the country on Friday.

Farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal alleged that the Haryana police came into the Punjab area and opened fire and broke tractors of the protesting farmers, so a case under section 302 (murder) should be filed against the Haryana police.
