Mumbai, April 26 -- In the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, security at public places in Maharashtra is being strengthened. Effective surveillance is being carried out through CCTV systems in railway stations and surroundings for the safety of Mumbaikar passengers, the Mumbai Commissionerate said on Saturday.
There are 139 railway stations under the Mumbai Railway Police Commissionerate.
Around 7,500 to 8,000 local train runs are made during the day, and 75 to 80 lakh passengers travel through these every day.
Very effective surveillance is being maintained at all these railway stations under the Commissionerate through CCTV systems from the point of view of the safety of the passengers.
