Mumbai, Oct. 8 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at eight locations in the Dongri area early this morning in connection with individuals linked to the drug mafia.
The operation was launched on suspicion that proceeds from drug trafficking were being used for illegal moneylending and other unlawful financial activities.
The raids targeted premises connected to Faisal Shaikh and Alfiya Shaikh, both accused of drug trafficking.
According to sources, the two are associates of notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's aide, Salim Dola, a major figure in international drug operations who is currently based outside India.
Faisal and Alfiya are believed to be involved in the sale of the high-value narcotic MD (Mephedrone).
